Enemies

The castle's wandering threats and the six pursuers who chase Fiona from chapter to chapter.

Luminessants

Encounter

Slow-moving, glowing orbs that home in on Fiona's Azoth scent rather than sight or sound. Touching one disintegrates it and triggers a random spike of panic, and the noise it makes can draw real pursuers toward you — worse, it drowns out the area music, which is normally your first clue that something dangerous is close.

Location
Throughout the castle and mansion
Recommendations
  • Close a door between yourself and one to break its tracking
  • Wear the Obsidian Choker to cut down how easily they find you
  • Listen for Hewie: a continuous growl means a pursuer is near, growl-plus-bark means it's a Luminessant

Homunculus

Encounter

Wandering figures that mutter Azoth-like nonsense, bang their heads against walls, or lick the floor. Mostly harmless background threats, but a handful react violently if provoked — best left alone entirely.

Location
Castle corridors and the Old Mansion
Recommendations
  • Walk around them rather than engaging
  • Avoid repeated kicks — a few specific ones fight back

Failures

Encounter

Embryonic creatures that lunge for Fiona's legs and shriek once attached, spiking her panic and potentially calling in whatever else is nearby. A few solid kicks dissolve them in a burst of red smoke, or you can let Hewie tear one off.

Location
Later areas on Normal Mode, Earlier areas on Hard Mode
Recommendations
  • Kick repeatedly until it dissolves
  • Let Hewie finish one off once it has latched on

Bosses

Debilitas

Boss · Medium

The gardener — physically overpowering despite his childlike mind, and the first real pursuer Fiona has to shake. He can be beaten down through direct combat, but dropping the Entrance Hall chandelier on him while he's lured underneath ends the chase cleanly and without spending supplies.

Location
The castle grounds and interior
Recommendations
  • Lure him under the Entrance Hall chandelier and drop it for an instant, damage-free kill
  • Throw the Bisque Doll to buy an escape window if you can't reach the chandelier trap
  • A direct fight works too, but costs far more resources

Daniella

Boss · Medium

The maid, and the first pursuer to make it clear something's deeply wrong with the castle's staff. Her boss encounter is a puzzle fight: shove four blocks onto their floor pads with Hewie running interference, then draw her onto the room's central mirror to end it.

Location
The Mirror Room / Lunar Refractor area
Recommendations
  • Push the four floor blocks onto their colored pads while Hewie keeps her occupied
  • Once all four pads are lit, lure her onto the central mirror to finish the fight
  • Beat her down enough beforehand for a chance at the Philosopher Earrings drop

Riccardo

Boss · Hard

The hooded, gun-carrying butler, fixated on claiming Fiona rather than simply stopping her. He turns invisible during his Underground Cavern and Water Tower pursuit, and can't actually be beaten in a straight fight — the win condition is luring him against the tower's weak walls and having Hewie shove him through onto the Diorama mechanism below.

Location
Underground Cavern, Water Tower
Recommendations
  • Kick him into the three weak walls around the Water Tower to expose the Diorama mechanism
  • Have Hewie knock him through the opening once it's exposed rather than fighting him head-on
  • Expect him to turn invisible during the second phase of the chase

Lorenzo

Boss · Hard

The old man in the wheelchair, revealed as the true mastermind behind everything happening in the castle once Chapter 4 begins. Almost immobile — he can't open doors and has to crawl — but dangerous enough that the fight is built around trapping him with the Golden Candlestick before finishing him off on the Conveyor Belt.

Location
Entrance Hall, Conveyor Belt room
Recommendations
  • Set the Golden Candlestick and flammable boxes as a trap on the Entrance Hall dais
  • Lure him into the trap to cripple him before the follow-up fight
  • Finish him off during the Conveyor Belt encounter that follows

Young Lorenzo

Boss · Deadly

Lorenzo's true, restored form and the castle's real final boss — cunning, fast, and immune to nearly everything in Fiona's arsenal except Hewie and fire. The Lava Pit Room's fan switches and loose rocks are there to be used against him, since brute force alone won't get it done.

Location
Lava Pit Room, House of Truth
Recommendations
  • Rely on Hewie's attacks — conventional weapons barely scratch him
  • Use the fan switches and lava rocks in the room as environmental hazards against him

Flaming Lorenzo

Boss · Deadly

What's left of Lorenzo after Young Lorenzo falls: a screaming, burning corpse that refuses to stay dead, chasing Fiona through a House of Truth that's actively collapsing around her. There's no strategy here beyond fleeing for the Caverns of Truth and pushing past the statue blocking the way out before he catches up.

Location
Caverns of Truth, House of Truth (collapsing)
Recommendations
  • Don't fight him — there is no combat option, only escape
  • Crouch through the earthquake tremors instead of running blind
  • Have Hewie bash open the door to the Caverns of Truth — it's faster than kicking it yourself
  • At the statue blocking the doorway, mash the action button to shove it aside and get through
  • Any contact is instant death — keep moving no matter what
