Secrets

Boss camos, the Stealth Camouflage challenge, the Patriot, and every alternate way to handle The End's boss fight.

Boss Camos

Costume Unlock

Every principal antagonist and boss can reward you with a unique camouflage uniform. Once you deplete a boss's white stamina bar to zero without dealing lethal damage, check the ground where they fall for their exclusive uniform.

Unlock Condition
Defeat any main boss without ever using lethal ammunition against them — drain their stamina bar instead, with stun grenades, CQC, or the Mk22.

Stealth Camouflage

Ultimate Item

The definitive stealth item — makes Snake 100% invisible to every human guard and dog (though it doesn't work during boss fights). There are two completely different ways to earn it: a flawless, alert-free playthrough, or patiently finding and shooting every one of the game's absurdly well-camouflaged toy frogs.

Unlock Condition
Either finish a full campaign without the ALERT status ever triggering, or hunt down and shoot all 64 toy frogs hidden across every area of the game.

Infinity Face Paint

Ultimate Item

Equipping this face paint grants infinite bullets and infinite items (including suppressors) for the rest of the playthrough. The catch is entirely about item management: don't lose the Tsuchinoko when your gear gets confiscated, and don't let it die along the way.

Unlock Condition
Capture the legendary Tsuchinoko snake, keep it alive in your inventory for the rest of the game — including through the torture sequence — and reach the ending with it still alive.

Mosin Nagant

Weapon Unlock

If you beat The End non-lethally, the old sniper leaves his legendary rifle behind — a powerful tranquilizer sniper rifle, and arguably the best long-range tool in the game for a pacifist playthrough.

Unlock Condition
Defeat The End by draining his stamina rather than killing him outright.

Skip The End's Boss Fight Entirely

Sequence Break

The forest duel against The End is one of the game's signature encounters, but it can be skipped completely. Killing him during that early cutscene removes him permanently from the playthrough — Ocelot's guards take his place in the forest afterward.

Unlock Condition
Acquire a sniper rifle early enough to reach the docks cutscene where The End appears asleep in his wheelchair, then reposition and shoot him the moment the cutscene ends.

Defeat The End by Old Age

Alternate Solution

If you'd rather not fight The End at all, simply save mid-battle and walk away. Come back after enough time has passed, and you'll find The End has died of natural old age while waiting for you — arguably the most unexpected way to "win" a boss fight in the whole series.

Unlock Condition
Save your file during the fight, then wait roughly a week of real time (or advance your system clock about 8 days) before reloading.

EZ Gun

Weapon Unlock

A miraculous suppressed pistol that never runs out of ammo, puts targets to sleep, and passively raises your camouflage index to 80% while equipped.

Unlock Condition
Discover every animal, plant, and edible fungus species in the game, earning the Markhor hunting title (or start the game on a very easy difficulty, where it's given for free).

Time Paradox

Fourth-Wall Easter Egg

Since the game is a direct prequel to the entire franchise, doing something that would contradict established future events swaps the usual GAME OVER screen for one reading TIME PARADOX, complete with radio contacts scolding you for breaking the timeline.

Unlock Condition
Kill a character who is confirmed to exist later in the timeline (Ocelot, EVA...), or let too much time pass while faking your own death.
