The Docks & Surface Heliport

After swimming through the frigid waters of the Bering Sea and stripping off your scuba gear, Solid Snake contacts Colonel Roy Campbell (140.85). Your initial objective is to reach the cargo elevator on the north wall of the dock.

• Watch out for water puddles: Splashing into puddles makes audible footstep sounds that instantly alert the two patrolling Genome Soldiers.
• Docks Rations: Collect 3 rations: one submerged underwater near the entry pool, another at the southeast corner, and a third hidden behind the crane to the right.

Crouch-walk behind cargo crates to avoid soldier vision cones. As you approach the northern elevator, it descends with a sentry inside. Wait for the door to open, take him down from behind with a punch-kick combo, and step onto the lift to ride up to the surface.

Upon reaching the surface, a cutscene triggers showing Liquid Snake taking off in a heavily armed Hind-D attack gunship.

Following radio check-ins from Naomi Hunter and Mei Ling (140.96) for saving:

• Use your Binoculars to survey the heliport layout.
• Avoid Searchlight Sweeps: Stepping into the circular light beams triggers an immediate base-wide alert.
• Grab a box of Chaff Grenades at the upper-left corner.
• Recover Stun Grenades and an extra ration on the eastern catwalk near the stairs.

Make your way to the parked military cargo truck in the center of the heliport:

• Climb into the truck's cargo bed to recover the SOCOM Pistol (.45 ACP).

• Head up the exterior stairway to the upper catwalk.

• Wait for the patrolling catwalk guard to face away, neutralize him quietly, and pick up SOCOM ammunition.

• Drop prone and crawl through the upper ventilation shaft. Overhear sentries talking about an intruder and revealing that the DARPA Chief hostage is held in the Basement B1 cells. Continue crawling while collecting a ration to emerge into the Tank Hangar.
