Communications Towers & The Hind-D

Retrace your steps through the snow canyon into the base of Communications Tower A:

• The moment you step inside the ground-floor corridor, a permanent facility-wide alert triggers, sending infinite waves of Genome Soldiers pouring down the spiral stairwell.
• Do NOT Stop Running: Hold the sprint button while firing FA-MAS assault rifle bursts on the move and lobbing Stun Grenades up the stair flights to clear your path.
• On the 9th Floor, the level security door is frozen shut.
• MANDATORY KEY ITEM: Pick up the Climbing Rope on the 9th-floor landing before climbing the final vertical ladder to the roof.

Stepping out onto the rooftop triggers Liquid Snake strafing the connecting walkway in the Hind-D gunship, destroying the bridge to Tower B:

• Equip the Rope: Approach the sheared metal railing and press the action button to begin rappelling down the exterior tower wall.
• Rappel Controls: Press X to execute long downward bounds. Press Circle to push horizontally off the wall to dodge incoming autocannon bursts and missiles from Liquid's Hind-D.
• Mid-Descent Rations: Collect two combat rations floating on intermediary scaffolding ledges during your descent.

Landing at the base of Tower B reveals the ground-floor door frozen shut. Plant a block of C-4 and detonate it to blast the doorway open.

Enter Tower B:

• Use the PSG-1 sniper rifle to eliminate sentries patrolling the long hallway.
• Enter the end room to secure the Stinger Missile Launcher and surface-to-air missile cases.
• Radio Otacon on the Codec (141.12): the scientist agrees to manually repair the tower's heavy cargo elevator.
• Climb the Tower B stairs while throwing Chaff Grenades to neutralize multiple automated gun cameras.

Board the restored cargo elevator. Midway through the ascent, the lift abruptly grinds to a halt due to an emergency weight overload warning:

Immediately equip your Thermal Goggles to expose the red heat silhouettes of the four cloaked soldiers. Circle the elevator corners while firing continuous FA-MAS rifle bursts until all four are eliminated.
