The Aquarium — Sharks & the Control Room
Escaping the Flooded Aquarium
- 1
Richard's Sacrifice
Push the crates into the water to make a path across, then continue through the door — the whole facility beyond is flooded. If Richard Aiken survived his snakebite earlier, you find him here again, terrified. As you try to warn him, a massive shark bursts from the depths — Richard shoves you clear and is dragged under in your place.
- 2
Crossing the Flood
Don't Fight the SharksTwo infected sharks still patrol the flooded rooms; dodge them rather than shoot, since killing either one burns through far more ammunition than it's worth. Don't linger in open water — the giant shark that just took Richard is still down there.
Head left to the corner door without exploring side paths, climb the stairs, and use the Control Room Key on the door at the top — discard the key afterward, it won't open anything else.
The Control Room Panel Puzzle
- 3
Reading the Pressure Document
Downstairs in the Aquarium Control Room, grab the First Aid Kit and the Aquarium Map. A document on the desk lists a number for releasing tank pressure — the digits are randomized per save file, so read it yourself and remember it.
- 4
Draining the Tanks
Panel OrderPress the center panel first, then the right panel to disable the safety lock. When told to lower the pressure first, head to the back panel and enter the number from the document. Return to the right panel to disable the lock again, then the left panel to lower the safety nets, and finally the center panel again to drain the water completely.
The Shark Tanks & the Gallery Key
- 5
The Storage Room
Through the back door is a storage area with two exits. The first holds grenades — grab them. Take the double doors beyond for the second exit.
- 6
Electrocuting Neptune
Two sharks are dying here now that the water's gone — shoot the smaller one, then head to the back where the giant shark, Neptune, is stranded but not yet a threat. Cross the wet section and climb up; in the far corner, try to grab a key and Neptune will thrash and knock it away.
Don't Go Back DownThe water below isn't fully drained yet — climbing down after the dropped key gets you eaten. Push the yellow panel on this level into the water, then head to the back panel and pull the generator lever to electrocute Neptune. Only then is it safe to retrieve the Gallery Key.
- 7
Plant 42's Roots
Head back up through the Control Room and cross to the section of the aquarium the sharks used to block. Shoot the third shark, then take the left door to find Plant 42's roots poking through the wall — harmless for now. Remember this spot; you'll return here shortly.
- 8
Back to the Guesthouse
Return to the storage room and open the other gate — the water's fully drained now, so this is your only way back. Grab the Magnum Ammo on some crates, head upstairs, and cross back through the aquarium facility to the Guesthouse hallway. Use the Gallery Key on the door marked "Gallery."
The Gallery & Room 003
- 9
Clearing the Moths
Move quickly inside — moths will swarm you here. Head to the back, then left, to find a body; take the Insecticide beside it and backtrack to the hole in the corridor from before. Spraying it there clears the moths out for good, so return to the Gallery.

Room 003 & the Blank Book
No Chemistry KnowledgeChris has no background in chemistry, so he can't brew V-Jolt the way Jill can — skip the billiard-ball shadow puzzle and the chemical room entirely and go straight for Room 003 with just the Shotgun, Magnum, and some herbs.
Take the handgun magazine from the center display case, then grab the Room 003 Key and a red herb near the body you found. Use the key on the door marked "003" and discard it once inside. On the bookshelf, take the Blank Book — instructions for destroying Plant 42 — and check the bathroom, where uncovering the tub yields a dagger. Deposit spare items at the save room and pick up the Red Book left there before continuing.
Plant 42
- 11
Opening the Secret Door
Back in Room 003, use the Red Book on the bookshelf, arranging its pieces in the correct order. A wardrobe slides aside to reveal a hidden passage into a small vestibule — where Plant 42 itself is waiting.
- 12
The Boss Fight
Plant 42
Boss · MediumWith no V-Jolt to soften it up and no Barry to bail you out, climb the stairs to the open railing above the vestibule and fire everything you have until the plant goes down for good.
Strategy- No V-Jolt shortcut available on this path — you fight it head-on
- Climb to the open section of railing and unload Shotgun and Magnum rounds
- 13
Grieving With Rebecca
After the fight, Rebecca finds you and you have to tell her Richard didn't make it. The two of you retreat to the medical storage room; she breaks down and you do your best to comfort her before telling her to keep herself safe and pressing on alone.
- 14
Wesker's Warning
Leaving the Gallery, you hear gunfire and find Wesker. He seems surprised you're alive and asks where Jill is, visibly suspicious when you say you two got separated — he tells you to keep investigating before the two of you split up again.
Back Toward the Mansion
- 15
Crossing the Garden
Head back through the garden — two dogs wait near the small elevator, so clear them before you climb up — and make your way back to the mansion grounds.
- 16
A Note in the Shed
ShedMagnum & Shotgun AmmoBack at the shed, you find a note left for you: supplies to deal with "that bullet-proof thing chained up," and word that the door with the failing handle has been fixed. Take what was left before moving on.
- 17
Hunter Alpha
Open the door and cross the Covered Passage. A new enemy, Hunter Alpha, attacks as you enter — without a Grenade Launcher, lean on the Shotgun or save a Magnum round if things get close. More Hunters wait past the fixed door; clear them and head to your item box.
