Streets of Raccoon City & Arrival at the R.P.D.

After the truck crash separates Leon from Claire, you start with a Heckler & Koch VP70 Handgun, a Knife, and a Lighter. You're immediately surrounded by seven zombies — push down the street rather than fighting through all of them. Dodge the remaining zombies and go through the door at the end of the street into the R.P.D. parking lot.

Three more zombies patrol the lot. Head right to a cabin and grab the Cabin Key on the table, then cross to the locked door on the other side and use the key there (it's consumed on use). Inside is a typewriter, Ink Ribbon, and Handgun ammo.

Exit the cabin through its other door into the courtyard — four more zombies here, try to dodge them — and climb the metal stairs. A cutscene plays on the rooftop: a police officer being rescued by helicopter is grabbed by zombies, accidentally shoots the pilot, and the helicopter crashes on the roof, killing everyone aboard. Push forward to the door leading into the R.P.D.'s interior.
